Newsletter - October 1999

Just a short newsletter this month. There is a programme of events to bring to your notice, so here goes:

Suddenly at Home

This excellent thriller written by Francis Durbridge is our production at the Civic Theatre on the evenings of 11th to 13th November. Don Williams is producing the play and rehearsals are well advanced. If murder, deception and suspense appeal to you, don't miss it

Open Day

We are holding an Open Day (or, strictly, an open afternoon) at Stourport Day Centre on Saturday 30th October between 2 to 5 pm. This is an opportunity for anyone interested in finding out more about amateur drama or the activities of the Guild to come along and meet some of our members. There will be some performances staged suring the afternnon, most of the presented by our highly energetic younger members. They are rehearsing two short plays (ond of them an Alan Aykbourn) and some songs and music from "Little Shop of Horrors".
We hope that we will generate sufficient interest to recruit some new members. Please come along during the afternoon and join in and have a chat. Do spread the word among any of your friends who may be interested. There is no admission charge.

Christmas Dinner

Our Christmas Dinner this year will be on Saturday 4th December at the Day Centre. The award winning team of chefs is preparing a tasty Christmas menu. The cost should be below £10 and you will have to search hard to get better value or quality! To add some fun to the evening Don Williams is preparing to hold a Chinese Auction. Don't aske me what that is - ask Don!
Brenda is taking bookings and the earlier you book the better so she can order the food.

Maskerade

It seems ages ago now that the strange and mysterious activities at Ankh-Morpork Opera House were translated to the Civic stage in Stourport. Everyone involved had a lot of fun and we hope everyone in the audience did too. Many thanks to all the cast and crew who worked long and hard.
The show made a £40 profit. It may not sound a lot, but it was an expensive show to put on, so many thanks to everyone who sold tickets.
We also thank Stourport Inner Wheel for their generous donation of £100. The Guild was one of the local organisations supported by Mrs Elizabeth Mills during her Presidential year. The gift will certainly be put to good use.

Next Committee Meeting

Wednesday 3rd November, 7:30pm at Lynn and Andy's
