Alice is a Sleeping Beauty

Alice In Wonderland has had to be postponed because the lighting and wiring circuits at Stourport Civic Hall are in an unstable condition. The Council could not guarantee to have the lights in a working condition by the time Alice was due to be performed. Since no publicity had been distributed and rehearsals, costume and construction were not at an advanced stage, it was decided to postpone the play until the autumn when Alice will be re-awakened by Prince Charming in the form of Alan.
The new dates for the performance are 24th, 25th and 26th October 2002. Rehearsals should restart in mid August, if you are in the cast and the new performance dates do not suit you, please let Alan know as soon as possible. (We don't want him turning into a frog)
By way of compensation Alan has arranged a series of workshops to keep the group together.
Unfortunately, because the costumes will not be available, we will not be entering Bewdley Carnival procession but we will be in Stourport Carnival. Which leads us nicely to a plea for help. To be eligible for a grant from the Carnival Committee, groups will have to provide help by way of being stewards for Carnival day on 7th September, so please help us, see any committee Guild member.
As far as the backstage side of Alice things will continue as normal, so hopefully the set and costume will be ready with time to spare and pigs will fly. We are still desperate for more seamstresses, please contact Hilda, Lynn or Brenda.
The cast and others did a sponsored walk, with one young lady (Jo Taylor) hoping to collect in over £150, very well done.
