March 2002

Alice in Wonderland

Thanks to everyone who attended the workshop and auditions. It seems we are going to have a cracking show in June. Volunteers are requested to serve on the committees we are setting up to organise the show. If you have any expertise (or just enthusiasm will do!) and would like to help with Publicity, Costumes and Make-up or Scenery and Effects then please get in touch with Alan. Initial committee dates are as follows:
Publicity: Tuesday 12th March, 7.30pm at Alan's house.
Costumes & Make-up: Wednesday 13th March, 7.30pm at Lynn and Andy's house.
Scenery & Effects: Wednesday 13th March, 7.30pm, also at Lynn and Andy's house.
If you feel you can assist with any of these, please get in touch with Alan.

Skittles evening

We are planning another skittles evening at the Kingsford pub at the Kingsford Caravan Park in Wolverley on Friday 22nd March.
These evenings are good fun and suitable for young and old alike. The cost will be around £5, which will include a supper. Please get in touch to get a message to Lynn Morgan to say you are coming and she will give you the choice of menu.

Notice of Annual General Meeting

All members are invited to attend the AGM of the Guild, which will be held on Wednesday 3rd April at 7.30pm at the hut. The officers and committee for the coming year will be elected, so please come with some nominations in mind, and don't be shy to volunteer yourself.
A resolution will be proposed to amend the constitution, so that the committee will consist of twelve members (including President and officers). This amendment is designed to ensure that the Guild operates in a more efficient manner with a committee of optimum size. This will not affect the operation of the various committee groups which are set up from time to time to organise specific events, such as those for "Alice".

Ludlow Festival

This year, Ludlow Festival are presenting The Merry Wives of Windsor for their Shakespearean production in the Castle. We are once again proposing to block book tickets for Guild members and friends. The date proposed is Wednesday 3rd July and tickets will be £17, although we will get a discount if we buy over 20. Please get in touch to let Peter Hollis know BEFORE 10TH MARCH if you would like to come. We need to book early to get good seats.

Subscriptions

It is that time of year when the birds are singing, the buds are bursting, and Aunty Hilda raids your wallets. Please renew your membership for the coming year as soon as possible. Subs are £10 for adults and £6 for school students, and we have to insist that everyone who takes part in any production either on or off stage is a member. This is not only to be fair to all other members, but also to ensure proper insurance cover. Cheques can be made payable to STAG, and passed to Hilda Williams.
This year, Hilda has an enforcer in the shape of Neil Crabbe to help her collect subs. If she doesn't get your subs soon, Big Neil will come round to your house......!

The hut

The hut has been suffering somewhat in the winter weather, but we have some volunteers making repairs and it should soon be weather-proof and fit to use again soon. Rehearsals for Alice in Wonderland start there on Sunday 17th March, so it'll definitely be done by then.

The Whist Drive

January's Whist Drive was a resounding success and a small profit was made for the funds. Many thanks to John and Brenda Banner for hosting it once again.

The committee meeting scheduled for 6th March has been CANCELLED. (We think they've run out of things to talk about.) Anything which needs to be discussed can be raised at the organisation meetings on 13th March (see above). The first committee meeting after the AGM is scheduled for Wednesday 10th April.
