Nothing but good news this time, now there is a change, by the way, hello everyone.
Firstly we have to say a big thank you to Andrew and Mary Wehner. Mary for going home and enthusing about Daisy Pulls It Off and an even bigger thank you to Andrew for working on our behalf to get a substantial donation from The Rotary Club. Again thank you Mary and Andrew for thinking of us.
The One Act Plays are going really well, and our younger members promise to give us a real treat. I look forward to seeing Plaster*, Almost The Bride of Dracula and the play written by Alan Going Nowhere. Don't forget they are on at the Lickhill Community Centre on Saturday 3rd April starting at 7.30pm. Please be there and support us for what promises to be a superb evening.
* Editor's note: Although Plaster was originally planned as well, circumstances conspired against us and only the two productions went on.
The Autumn Production - 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie, we can't say Indians, we have to say soldiers, but not in the title, confusing ain't it? Nevertheless, rehearsals are under way under the direction of Brenda, cast - Peter Hollis, Maria Bettridge, Alan Williams, Neil Crabbe, Alex Forty, Lynn Morgan, Katy Ball, Don Williams, Maggie Patten, Jay Caldwell and John Banner.
The AGM is on 21st April at the hut with a 7.45pm start. Lionel is going to provide us with some refreshments for which we thank him.
I did lie to you at the start, there is some bad news. Subs are going up as from 1st May 2004. Adult subs will be £14.00 and younger members £7.00. As you know our costs are constantly going up and a rise has now become inevitable.
Along this same theme, Brenda and John are going to run a boot sale at the Wobbly Wheel site as soon as possible in April. If you have any items for us which would be suitable, we would be very grateful, anything you think would sell and get us some much needed funds. Also any help on the day would be appreciated.
STOP PRESS NEWS - We have won our appeal against immediate eviction for the hut. The Planning Inspectorate has upheld every one of our appeal points against the County Council and we have been granted a final 2 years on the Queens Road site, after which we will definitely have to vacate. We must extend our many thanks to John Banner for the tremendous amount of work he has put in in mounting this appeal which culminated in this success.
