Hello and welcome to this month's newsletter
Before we go into the newsletter - sorry for the delay in sending it out, due to time constraints (wedding anniversaries, going on a jolly to Silverstone etc) I have only just had the minutes of the committee meeting so could not prepare this little missive for you all! (yes yes I know - bloody part timers etc)
Anyway on with the News!
I am sad to report our publicity officer, Mary Kendall has tendered her resignation from the guild, her enthusiasm, skills in contacting the local media, and acting ability will be sorely missed.
In other committee news, Alan rather cleverly turned up to the last committee meeting, and after we learned of Mary's resignation immediately jumped in with his size 9's and offered to take on the vacant position - he has been heard muttering something in the pub about "after over 40 years, you would have thought I could have learned to keep my mouth shut by now!" As it stands - Welcome back Alan! Who knows next year I may even let you have your old job as secretary back!
A Tomb With A View has been and gone, and all of us can breath a sigh of relief, and finally grab a well earned drink!, the performances were well attended, but due to climactic conditions the theatre was rather uncomfortable for both cast and audience. However the Queen of the purse strings assures us we will at least break even, and may even make a small profit once all the bills are taken care of. We have received lots of feedback on the play, some of the highlights include:
The Branded Clothing is Here! Neil has got the sample back from the manufacturers, and it looks great. It was decided by Messrs Crabbe, Forty, and Williams jnr to forge ahead and be the first to purchase a polo shirt each as a trial run. Delivery was made yesterday (12th July) and they look very impressive. However the 3 Amigo's were heard to mutter something along the lines of "this is extra large? It's a bit of a snug fit!" We will be debuting the shirts on the 24th July which leads me nicely on to…
Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents - Not much to report here yet, however the directorial duo (Alex and Neil) has reformed with the inclusion of Mr Alan "I can't do cold turkey" Williams taking on the valiant role of producer.
So far we have contacted several local schools and groups regarding the forthcoming auditions at Areley Kings Village Hall, so far we appear to have a lot of interest from most of them, however as existing members we also will need you! So come along and audition, we will also be needing seamstresses, carpenters, publicity runners etc, so if you don't want a part, I am sure we can find something for you to do (even if it to hold the director's coffee cups!)
If you did not know, Auditions are on Sunday 24th July at Areley Kings Village Hall, between 2-6pm and there are nearly 50 parts to fill (without doubling), some speaking, and some not, so come and audition! You know it makes sense! And bring a friend or two! If you want to help out rather than audition, we will also need help "behind the scenes" as it were so please contact myself, Neil or Alan to find out what you can let yourself in for!
Don's Drama Workshop! A new Idea was had by the maestro to help all members with all aspects of their stagecraft. The committee has decided to leave the workshop until December - after the November production - this will give us all time to prepare for the new years events. More news as I get it!
Summer BBQ We will be having a summer BBQ hosted by clan Morgan, at their home in Kidderminster. Andy has kindly offered to helm the inferno, so be prepared for a fine feast! The cost will be £6 per head, this will include a choice of 2 meats, or veggie options - Menu's will be supplied after the auditions ( so we can send them out with the scripts). Alcohol will be available at cost, however, you may feel free to bring your own.
That's about it for now, no funny pictures for you this month, however…
For those of you on the interweb thingy if you follow this link you will see why they never showed Christmas Morning at the skywalker home:

it's funny!
TTFN!
