Hello and welcome to June's newsletter!
Quite a bit to go through this month so go grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy the reading!
Comfy? Good, then I will begin&
First off is to let you know about the up coming production of A Tomb with A View a comedy murder mystery penned by Norman Robins, and involves various members of the cast being poisoned, shot, beheaded, butchered and stabbed. And it is also a very funny play.
The dates for performances are:- Thursday 23rd - Saturday 25th June at Areley Kings Village Hall , curtain up 7:30 PM sharp. Tickets are selling fast so contact Hilda to book up!
The Branded clothing is moving along too, to begin we have decided to offer a polo shirt and sweatshirt with the logo embroidered on it, the cost looks to be around £16.50 for each item.
Before you flood me or others with requests for these high quality fashionable items, we are currently waiting for a sample to come back to us so we can say yes (or no) - rest assured though you will be notified as soon as this year's must have clothing item is made available!
As the summer fast approaches we are looking forward with trepidation to November production.
Neil and myself have been working hard trying to fill Alan's boots, reading mountains of scripts (well ok 3) and have finally come up with 'Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents' by Terry Pratchett, adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs.
The book is the winner of the Carnegie Medal which is awarded to books for children more information can be found here . For those of you who do not know the story is basically a twist on the classic tale of The Pied Piper of Hamlyn. The blurb in the back of the book reads:
Maurice, a streetwise cat, has the perfect money-making scam. Everyone knows the stories about rats and pipers, and Maurice has a stupid-looking kid with a pipe, and his very own plague of rats - strangely educated rats&
But in Bad Blintz, the little con suddenly goes down the drain. For someone there is playing a different tune and now the rats must learn a new word.
EVIL.
It's not a game any more. It's a rat-eat-rat world. And that might only be the start
The Play involves a cast of around 30, with roles ranging from huge to being on stage once, as well as a variety of non speaking roles.
We will be holding open auditions for the play at Areley Kings Village Hall, hopefully on Sunday 10th July or Sunday 17th July between 2pm and 5pm - I will let you all know as soon as Brenda gets back to me with the correct date!
The Committee has decided it would be a great idea to start a monthly meeting for all guild members once a month (possibly on the first Wednesday of the month) for an evening of games, drama workshops, stagecraft, etc. We are planning on starting it in September to let all those with exams the summer to take a well earned rest, and of course there is the summer holidays to consider!
More information as it becomes available, but if you have any suggestions, drop me an e-mail and I will pass them on to the relevant people.
On a Lighter note, El Presidente Don will hopefully be starring in a feature in the Kidderminster shuttle/ Stourport news, advertising our forthcoming play A Tomb with A View (tickets selling fast, get 'em whilst you can - I did mention that didnt I?!) and Amazing Maurice auditions. As well as giving a potted history of the guild.
A new idea I had was to include anyone's birthday in the newsletter, so to kick off :
Kathy 'She who must be obeyed' Forty (my wife) 8th of June (25)
Mr Richard 'badger/Mad Hatter/boss man' Taylor 18th July (31)
And me - 28th July (31)
Happy Birthday ! - it goes without saying if your birthday is this month - happy birthday to you also, and if you drop me a line via e-mail, I can add you into the list!
Thats about it for now so here are a couple of pictures to put a smile on your faces (well they do for me anyway!)

See you next month!
and just in case I forgot to mention it... buy some tickets to " A tonb with a View"!
Alex
