Hello and welcome to the new STAG newsletter!
First of all, I would like to thank John and Brenda for the sterling work they have put in to the newsletter over the last 18 months or so, it is a thankless task, and I feel they did a fantastic job. Thanks again!
The AGM was held at the hut on Monday 4th April, and apart from the main event (Bacon butties!) we also elected a new committee, who are as follows:
| El Presidente | Don Williams | Committee Members | Neil Crabbe | |
| Vice Chairman | Brenda Banner | Chris Phillips | ||
| Chairman | Maggie Patten | Lionel Lench | ||
| Treasurer | Hilda Williams | Lynn Morgan | ||
| Secretary | Alex Forty | John Banner | ||
| Publicity Officer | Mary Kendall | Maria Betteridge |
It is with great sadness I have to report Alan is taking a sabbatical from the Guild (old age is catching up with him!), as such he only wants to get involved with the productions in a non starring capacity (i.e. teaboy) for a while. I am sure you will join with me in wishing Alan all the best, and look forward to his return. (I will try and keep your seat warm old man)
The One Act Plays were held on Friday April 29th to great acclaim. All those who took part did a fantastic job, and a good time was had by all, it has been noted the event could have been better attended, however as we now have a publicity officer, we should get full houses for every performance (honest!)
The Logo competition was held recently and the judges had a difficult task of choosing a winner. Hours of sitting in a closed bar mulling over the entries was had by the two judges, and after several pints, a couple of curries, a few games of paper stone scissors, and thumb war the wining entry was eventually decided upon. The winner was Kathy Forty's entry seen here:

One of the main purposes of the logo competition was to give us a brand identity We are in the process of sourcing branded clothing displaying the logo on items of clothing such as t-shirts, shirts, jumpers, fleeces etc and as soon as we get an idea of cost this information will be sent out to you all, so you can all order some of the high quality merchandise on offer! (note to self stop pretending you are Del trotter&)
We are holding an Open day at Arley Kings Village Hall (AKVH) on the 4th of June to promote the guild and hopefully recruit new members. All are welcome, so come along and bring a friend or ten! We will be having an open rehearsal of A Tomb with A View, this should have 2 main effects, one as previously mentioned to recruit new members but also to wet peoples appetite for the play and get them to come and see the full version (well thats the plan anyway!)
A Tomb with A View rehearsals are going well with cast members dying faster than one of my jokes (suffice it to say they are bad) the play is due to be performed the week of the 20th June - help will be required for set building, painting, poster flying, tea making etc on Sunday 19th at AKVH so come and lend a hand! Also, tickets are soon to be made available, so book now to avoid disappointment!.
That's it for now, not the most amusing newsletter, but as events occur, pictures are taken and weird things happen (let me know for the news letter), this will improve!
So for now here is the closing of the newsletter. I will end with this picture, for no other reason than i find it amusing:

See you next Month
Alex
This additional information was provided to the email distribution group following the newsletter:
Addendum in extremis!
in a herculean display of incompetence on my inorgural newsletter it appears the date for the open day was wrong! (something about weddings being cancelled or some other bobbins was mentioned)
as such we will be holding a rehearsal at AKVH between 3 and 5 on saturday 21st May (yes that's right - this saturday!).
all are welcome to come and see the play in progress and sign up as many new members as possible!
sorry about the short notice!!
I should also note that myself and Lord Crabbe of Kidderminster are looking at a script for november, there is one teeny weeny hiccup that we can see so far. there needs to be about 30 in the cast (though i estimate we can get away with 25 at a push)
so get your friends, family, next door neighbours, enemies, aunt bessie's dog to sign up to the guild for the november production!
more info next month
Alex
