Hello all you STAG members out there! Welcome to September’s Newsletter.
As you may (or probably aren’t aware) we are in full swing with rehearsals, and now it is official! Yes it’s true, as of today (30th September we have an official Licence from the authors to put on the play! (It should be noted here that Alex, Alan and Neil all breathed a deep sigh of relief when it arrived!)
Rehearsals are going really well and all the production team are dead chuffed with the standard of acting, and speed in which the cast are learning their lines (you are learning them aren’t you?)
Alan has had to take a half step back with his duties as publicity officer due to work commitments (yeah right, being a part timer if you ask me), however “She who shall be obeyed” (Kathy my wife for those that don’t know) has offered to take up the role. Thanks love, you are ace you are!
As an aside to this there are several dates for your diaries – and your parent’s diaries.
Firstly Saturday October 8th at the Swift’s ground (behind Stourport swimming pool) we will be having a party! Yes it’s true, there will be sweets, crisps, pop, nibbles, and all manner of things with enough sugar and e-numbers to fell a herd of elephants! – We will be aiming to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements so don’t panic. (Vegetarians can much happily on the football field, the groundskeeper informs me its due to be mown anyway, so it will save him a job)
There will also be a pay bar so come along, bring your parents etc - they will only moan if they don’t get invited, and sulk to and from the party – and besides we can lock them away in the small bar room, out of the way of the real party.
Kick off is 6pm until about 9pm. And it is a free event (except the pay bar) so come along and let your hair down. Alan has also promised to bring his gramophone collection of polka music so the more that arrive, the easier it will be to drown out!
Other dates are: 15th October 1pm @ the hut – Costume Meeting. This is mainly for the mum’s out there who can wield a needle (and any dad’s too if they feel inclined to help) - As Lord Kitchener was heard to say – WE NEED YOU!
And finally Sunday October 23rd 10AM @ AKVH – Set painting. Yes it is a bit early, but the plan is paint till 12:30pm , send out the Sherpa’s for lots of chips, a few loaves of bread, some ketchup, and some Butter and have chip butties prior to rehearsal @ 2pm. All are welcome, but bring some scruffs so you can get changed for rehearsal (this again advice is again aimed at the adults because everyone knows children would never spill paint on themselves. Ever. Honest guv)
We are having a play reading evening at the hut for the grown up guild (well they like to think they are) on Saturday 1st October (yes tomorrow evening – sorry about the short notice!) @ 6pm, it’s bring your own refreshments and we will be sending out for take away at some point so some money for pizza will be needed. Any and everyone welcome.
That’s about it for now however I feel I would be remiss if I did not say welcome to [takes deep breath]: Tanya, Andrew, Kristal, Tessa, Shyan, Becky, Connie, Steph, lahna, ellie, Alex(no not me the other one) Emma, Caroline, Lucy, and anyone else new who I have forgotten (sorry) and sorry if I spelt your name wrong. Spelling happens to other people not me!
