March 2006

Greetings once again. First off sorry for not getting out a newsletter last month, I have had rather a hectic couple of weeks at work since the last one and have not had the time. Besides I know how much you all rely on them to keep you up to date.

The One Act Plays evening is going on a pace, with a night of varied entertainments for your viewing pleasure, including a 1 act play (hence the name of the evening, clever eh?!) a song or two, some comedy sketches, and a couple of readings. If you are itching to come and add your own turn on the stage, you can contact Alan Williams in the usual way and he will add you to the list. As it stands we will be performing the acts on Saturday 25th March at Areley Kings Village Hall from 7pm. PLEASE do come and support those having a go, this event is not publicly advertised as it's for the guild members' family and friends. Tickets are available and are at the princely sum of £3 each.

Guild Social evenings will be planned in the near future, but as I have not heard anything from anybody about the proposed theatre trips or the trip to Drayton Manor, it has been suggested that I open up the options by asking our membership what they would like to do as a get together. With this in mind I have prepared a form and attached it on the bottom of the newsletter. Please fill it in and send it back so the committee can make suitable arrangements.

With the impending eviction from the hut we are planning a garden clearance day at Neil Crabbe's house. This is so we can clear a space to erect a secure gate and shed to store all of the items too large to keep at Areley Kings. The date set is the weekend of the 8/9th April from 10 am. Neil has volunteered vats of coffee and bacon butties for those brave enough to venture into the jungle formerly known as Neil's back yard.

Tons of Money is progressing reasonably well, and should be a great show. Well it will be if the cast can ever stop laughing and actually get on with rehearsing! The cast is as follows:
SprulesJohn Banner SimpsonBrenda Banner
Miss Benita MulletLynn Morgan Louise AllingtonKaty Ball
Aubrey AllingtonRichard Taylor GilesDon Williams
James ChestermanAlan Williams Jean EverardMaggie Patten
HeneryAlex Forty George MaitlandNeil Crabbe

However we are still a light on bodies for backstage, set building, looking at lighting, making tea whilst the set is constructed, and other Jobs, if you would like to volunteer for any of these roles, please send communication to the director either in person, via e-mail, or phone.

It is nearly that time of year again, so I thought I would let you know before Hilda gets her collection agency goons out. Subs will be due in the near future for those that need to pay (if you paid for the November production this does not apply to you, however if you managed to slip under the radar&.)

As far as I know there are currently no plans to increase subs from last year (£14 Adults and £7 for those below 18)

The Guild Committee's AGM. The Committee needs to formally give notice of the Annual General Meeting in early April at the hut. We will be electing new committee members and having a bit of a reshuffle, so if you feel you could help lead the Guild in the right direction, and are over 18 then please come along. No previous experience is necessary and all are welcome.

That's about it for now.

see you on the 25th!

Alex
