The action starts with Vivien, a reporter, sat waiting on the sofa. |
Soon Vivien is interviewing Stella Drury, wife of film star Robert Drury and an ex-film star. |
Robert returns. He is noticeably on his own. Stella quickly confronts him about this and Robert tells her that Mike, their son, is ill and with his mother. |
Stella pushes Robert about Mike. Robert is reluctant to speak about it in the presence of others. |
Robert is obviously perturbed. He goes to get himself a drink. Stella looks both confused and angry. Domestic trouble is on the horizon. |
Looking at the atmosphere developing, Vivien and the housekeeper Jane make themselves scarce. |
Stella goes to argue with Robert. He tries to calm her down. Things are not as they seem.... |
Robert explains to Stella that their son is not actually ill, but has been kidnapped. Stella blames Robert for letting him get kidnapped. |
Crozier, the kidnapper turns up and sets out his terms. His assistant arrives shortly after and turns out to be none other than Vivien. The interview was an excuse to case the joint. She leaves saying she'll come back later. |
Robert can't believe the day he's having. Crozier is upstairs. All he would say is that he wanted to stay in the house for the next 48 hours. |
To add to the nightmare the Drury's are having, the police arrive. Apparently someone has been killed in their holiday cottage. |
The police ask some searching questions and pretty soon Robert finds himself explaining about the kidnap to the police. He tells them Crozier is upstairs, they asks Stella to bring him down. |
No sooner has Crozier got in the room than the police kill him. |
Clayton holds a knife to Stella's throat, while Burford orders Robert around. He gets Crozier's case from his room. |
The 'police' leave. Robert decides to use this to his advantage to get Mike back. He thinks if he scares her into thinking he killed Crozier, she should tell him where Mike's being kept. |
While he's waiting for Vivien to return Robert's cousin, Dorothy turns up. It would seem Robert hasn't sent the 'usual' cheque. |
Robert manages to get rid of Dorothy, who bumps into Jane on her way out. |
Vivien returns, only to be killed by Clayton. |
Burford reveals that they now have Mike and explains that he'd like to stay in the house for the next 24 hours. 'But that's what Crozier wanted!' exclaims Robert. |
